Introduction

Here, on this page we will explain, briefly, what the different types of Torres del Paine W Trek Refugios there are along the W Trek trail. Further down the page you will find a block of pictures showing each refugio in vertical columns organized in and order of west, middle and east. These reflect the different valleys of the W trek trail. Under each valley title are the refugios located in those sectors. It should be noted that on this page we do not talk about the camping options.

What is a Torres del Paine W Trek Refugio?

Torres del Paine W Trek refugios are hostels. Rooms are dormitories furnished with bunk beds, with 6 people to a room, shared with other guests. Domos Frances are dome-shaped units, with metalic frames over which is tough, plastic sheeting, and the rooms here are also with a bunk bed set up. Bedding by way of either a sleeping bag or duvet is supplied for guests staying inside refugios or domos.

What is Serviced Camping?

Adjacent to the refugios is serviced camping, which comprises ground level platforms upon which are tents, already set up, ground mats and sleeping bags, with inner liners, provided.

What is Premium Camping?

Another level of serviced camping is now the premium camping. This comprises good quality tents (already set up) atop a raised platform, ground mats and sleeping bags, with inner liners, provided. The fact that the platforms are high off the ground protects the inhabitants of the tent from receiving the cold ground air into the tent.

Meal Plan

The full board meal plan is also offered at all refugios, serviced and premium camping, meaning hot dinner, breakfast and a lunch box to go or lunch at the refugio (if you stay in), and in that order.

Quality and Services of the

Torres del Paine W Trek Refugios

Note: The info below is provided in good faith, and we cannot be held responsible for any changes or if some facilities mentioned are not available.

The quality of refugio’s varies. For example, some are older than others as well as there being a difference in size regarding accommodation capacity.

Herewith is a brief summary of what is on offer from the refugio’s and serviced camp sites on the “Circuit” and “W” routes.

Definitions:
Made bed means duvet, pillow and sheets.
Simple bed + Kit: This means that the staff provide you the sheets and duvet and you set up the bed.
Full Board Means: Hot dinner, breakfast and box lunch (in these order).

Usual Mealtimes:
Dinner: 19:30 – 21:30hrs

Breakfast: 07:30 – 09:30hrs

Lunch: 12:30 – 14:30hrs (if trekking you will get a box lunch to go).
