The Torres del Paine Hotel Kau Rio Serrano Lodge is a new addition to the Torres del Paine accommodation options, located in the Serrano Village area of Torres del Paine. The owner has a great eye for what is good quality as well as what is pleasing to see and cozy, all of which is blended into this modern, boutique Patagonian lodge. In addition, the views are superb. Brief Introduction to Hotel Kau (pronounced “cow”)

The Torres del Paine Hotel Kau Rio Serrano Lodge is located on the banks of the Rio Serrano, in the Serrano village. This area is officially outside of the formal, invisible border boundary of Torres del Paine, but for all intents and purposes it is very much part of Torres del Paine with a stupendous view from here to the Torres del Paine massif and Cuernos – see the large picture above.

The hotel is small, modern and cozy with a total of 9 guest rooms distributed in simple units, the interiors of which have been decorated with pleasing wooden interior walls, soft lighting, wooden floors and modern furniture. The combination immediately reflects warmth, cleanliness and modernity as well as a “young” and vibrant atmosphere. In many respects Kau is like a “luxury” refugio (or hostel), insomuch that it offers the vibe of meeting other travellers, but with high-end, private bedrooms to sleep in and not a dorm.

About Hotel Kau

Kau lodge only has 9 guest rooms, which makes it rather “exclusive”. It does not have a pool or spa, but it does offer good quality accommodation by way of 3 double-bed rooms, 1 triple-bed room in what they call their Huemul Storehouse unit, and 5 other double-bed rooms in their Puma Apartments unit. In addition, there is a large, communal area in a central location where guests can mingle, enjoy bar drinks and lounge around. Also, at one end of this open space are the dining tables where breakfast and evening meals are taken.

In line with the modern, “shed” style, Kau has a deck area outside that faces the river and the magnificent view of the Torres del Paine massif.

All-Inclusive

Following many other hotels in and around Torres del Paine, Kau offers guest all-inclusive itineraries that include transport in and out, guided excursions, accommodation and all meals. In our opinion, Kau is an excellent option to enjoy a high-end boutique experience without breaking the bank.

The Kau Room Categories

There are only 9 rooms in total at Kau and these are housed in two areas of the lodge. One sector is called the Huemul Storehouse, which contains 3 double-bed rooms and one triple-bed room. The other area is called Puma Apartments and here there are 5 double-bed rooms.

All rooms, as can be seen from the photo below, are decorated, furnished and lit in a modern, tasteful way and bedding is also of a high quality.
