W Trek Refugio Domos Frances and Camping Frances
The W Trek Refugio Domos Frances and Camping Frances are located about a 1hr hike east from the entrance into the French Valley. Accommodation in the refugio sector is provided by way of bunk beds in dormitory rooms in a dome-shaped building. However, unlike the typical dorm rooms in the traditional refugio, here the bunk beds are spaced out and separated by partitions, creating a more cozy and more private situation.
Accommodation at Frances is the stop-off point for people trekking from Paine Grande in the west, or from Chileno or central in the East.

Refugio Domos Frances
Accommodation at Frances is concentrated in two dome structures containing spacious dorm rooms with 8 bunk beds in each. These bunk beds are separated by partitions that offer a certain amount of privacy, albeit not complete privacy. The height of the dome ceiling allows for considerably more ventilation and a sense of space not perceived in the other, traditional dorm rooms in refugios on the trail. In addition, there are 2 showers and 2 WC’s for each dome unit.
Meals are taken in another unit, also there is a small minimarket for basic goods.
Wi Fi is available around the reception area and charged by a per minute usage. Also, there are electrical plugs for the charging of cel phones, but you need a USB as well as request to charge your cel at the reception.
Camping Frances
Experience Chile offers Premium Camping in the all-inclusive W Trek itineraries, and this means that tents are of a superior quality to the usual as well as being pitched upon platforms that are high up off the ground. It should be noted that this class of camping allows for more comfort and warmth for the occupants of the tent. At Frances there are 44 Premium level tents.
