W Trek Refugio Grey and Camping Grey
The W Trek Refugio and Camping Grey are both located at the end of the western leg of the W trek trail close to Glacier Grey. Most important is that this is the place where the Circuit Trek meets the W Trek.
It should be noted that from Grey you can kayak in front of Glacier Grey, ice hike on top of Glacier Grey as well as take the Navigation Grey across Grey Lake to Hotel Grey. However, if you participate in these activities all require to be prebooked and prepaid.

Refugio Grey
Torres del Paine Refugio Grey is located at the end of the western leg of the W Trek near to Glacier Grey. The refugio is small and offers a good level of comfort, shower and WC facilities, along with an outer deck. This is the point where those who are trekking the full Circuit Trek trail will meet up with what is now the W Trek trail.
The Refugio Grey offers:
- In 2012 a new Refugio Grey was built, and this offers good-level dorm rooms with bunk beds.
- Communal, but segregated shower rooms.
- Dining room, a deck area and a simple basic essentials store.
- Capacity for 60 people.
- Made beds with pillows, sheets and duvets or Simple bed + Kit: the staff provide you the sheets and duvet and you set up the bed.
- Towels available to rent.
- Soap and shampoo provided with the all-inclusive package.
Torres del Paine Camping Grey
Camping Grey is an area close to the refugio whereby ready-to-go pitched tents will be waiting for those who have made prepaid reservations in advance. Guests in the tents can enjoy their meals inside the refugio. Tents are on the ground and will come with ground mats and sleeping bags.
Kayak, Ice Hike and Navigation Grey
Here at this spot is the check-in for the Ice Hike on Grey Glacier as well as Kayak in front of Grey Glacier. For both these activities you must have reservations confirmed and paid for in advance.
The Navigation Grey is a catamaran that acts both as a ferry to transport passengers between Hotel Grey and Refugio / Camping Grey as well as a sightseeing trip to pass in front of Glacier Grey. The service collects and drops off passengers at a ramp close to Refugio and Camping Grey.
Middle End and Start
Refugio and Camping Grey is the middle part of the Circuit Trek, as well as the start and end of the W Trek, depending on how you have decided to hike the trail. Please see trail maps below.
