Hike Distance 68.5km / 43 miles
INCLUDED:
- Regular bus tickets to and back from Torres del Paine (from Puerto Natales).
- All meals on the trail (hot dinner, breakfast and box lunch)
- Catamaran Tickets (between Paine Grande and Pudeto)
- Torres del Paine entry tickets
- Welcome kit (with brand new inner sleeping bag liner, water bottle and small towel)
Introduction
This itinerary will allow you to see the two iconic valleys on the W. For example, the Torres Base and the French Valley. It will also enable you to get to the Grey viewpoint that has the view over Grey lake and Glacier Grey in the distance.
However, you have the option, also, to hike all the way to Grey at the end and for Experience Chile to add on the Navigation Grey to take you in front of the glacier and across Grey Lake. At the end you would either take the regular bus back to Natales (we will need to add the ticket cost, or a PRIVATE Transfer, back to Natales).
Your W Trek Itinerary
1 Day – 06:30HRS AM Transfer to the Natales bus terminal (NOT INCLUDED IN THE COST). Collect welcome kits. Board the bus to Laguna Amarga in Torres del Paine and change over to a shuttle to take you to the Welcome Centre.
- Hike up to CHILENO 6.1km / 3.8m – 2.5hr hike.
- Go on to Torres Base 4.8km / 3m – 2hr hike.
- Back to CHILENO 4.8km / 3m – 2hr hike. Night at Chileno (or at Central, which requires another 2hrs back down from Chileno). Dinner and NIGHT at Chileno or Central.
NOTE: At Chileno there is only PREMIUM CAMPING accommodation. It is located half way up the trail towards the Torres Base, whereas Central is at the trail head.
2 Day – After breakfast, you will receive a box lunch and then hike to Frances, 16.1km / 10m – 6hr hike. Dinner and NIGHT at Frances.
3 Day – After breakfast, you will receive a box lunch and hike to the French Valley and back to Frances. Dinner and NIGHT at Frances.
The hike times are:
- From Frances to the French Valley Entrance: 1.1km / 0.7m – 45min hike.
- From French Valley Entrance to the FV Viewpoint: 2.6km / 1.6m – 1hr 30min hike.
- From French Valley Viewpoint to the end (Camp Britanico): 3.2km / 2m – 1hr hike.
- Total distance from French Valley Entrance to the end and back is: 11.6km / 7.25m – 5hr hike.
4 Day – After breakfast, you will receive a box lunch and hike to Paine Grande, which is 8.9km / 5.6m – 4hr hike. Upon arrival to Refugio Paine Grande you will have the option to hike up past the refugio to the GREY Viewpoint where you will get (on a clear day) splendid view over Grey Lake and Glacier Grey in the distance. After admiring the view you will hike back to Paine Grande and take the Catamaran to Pudeto (a 25minute crossing). Here, in the car park the regular bus will be waiting to take you back to Puerto Natales. Arrival back to Natales is around 21:30hrs PM. From here a private transfer (not included in the cost) will take you to your hotel.

At the end you would either take the regular bus back to Natales (we will need to add the ticket cost, or a PRIVATE Transfer, back to Natales).
Your W Trek Itinerary
1 Day – 14:00HRS PM Transfer to the Natales bus terminal (NOT INCLUDED IN THE COST). Collect welcome kits. Board the bus to Laguna Amarga in Torres del Paine and change over to a shuttle to take you to the Welcome Centre. Dinner and night at either CENTRAL or up at CHILENO.
2 Day – After breakfast, you will receive a box lunch and then hike up to the Torres Base and back down. Depending on if you are staying two nights at Chileno, at Central, or one night at each, will determine if your hike to the base will be 4hrs there and back (if at Chileno) or 9hrs there and back (if at Central). Note that Chileno is half way up the trail to Torres Base, whereas Central is at the trail head. Also, at Chileno there is ONLY PREMIUM CAMPING accommodation.
- From Central: hike up to CHILENO 6.1km / 3.8m – 2.5hr hike.
- Go on to Torres Base 4.8km / 3m – 2hr hike.
- Back to CHILENO 4.8km / 3m – 2hr hike. Night at Chileno (or at Central, which requires another 2hrs back down from Chileno). Dinner and NIGHT at Chileno or Central.
HOTEL OPTION: you can ask to change the first two nights to be in HOTEL LAS TORRES (see cost difference where the rates are).
3 Day – After breakfast, you will receive a box lunch and then hike to Cuernos, 12.5km / 7.8m – 4hrs 30min hike. Dinner and NIGHT at Cuernos.
4 Day – After breakfast, you will receive a box lunch and hike to the French Valley and and then on to Paine Grande. Dinner and NIGHT at Paine Grande.
The hike times are:
- From Cuernos to the French Valley Entrance: 3.3km / 2m – 2hrs 15min hike.
- From French Valley Entrance to the FV Viewpoint: 2.6km / 1.6m – 1hr 30min hike.
- From French Valley Viewpoint to the end (Camp Britanico): 3.2km / 2m – 1hr hike.
- Total distance from French Valley Entrance to the end and back is: 11.6km / 7.25m – 5hr hike.
- The distance from French Valley Entrance to Paine Grande is: 7.8km / 4.8m – 2hrs 40min hike.
5 Day – After breakfast, you will receive a box lunch and have an optional hike to hike up past the refugio to the GREY Viewpoint where you will get (on a clear day) splendid view over Grey Lake and Glacier Grey in the distance. After admiring the view you will hike back to Paine Grande and take the Catamaran to Pudeto (a 25minute crossing). Here, in the car park the regular bus will be waiting to take you back to Puerto Natales. Arrival back to Natales is around 21:30hrs PM. From here a private transfer (not included in the cost) will take you to your hotel.
However, you will also have the option to hike from Paine Grande to Grey. At Grey you can then take the Navigation Grey that passes in front of the Glacier Grey and across the lake to Grey Beach. After a walk of about 1km on the sand bar, you end at a car park called PINGO. Here, you can board a bus back to Puerto Natales, or we can send in a PRIVATE TRANSFER to collect you. Both services would be extras.
In addition, if you booked a night at GREY, you could then include a KAYAK OR ICE HIKE at Grey as extra activities.
