Torres del Paine W Trek Premium Accommodation

Introduction

For those who wish to hike the famous Torres del Paine W Trek and not wish to sleep in a bunk bed, in a room with strangers, we have the following options with private rooms for consideration:

In an East to West order, but this can easily be changed to West to East.

Hotel Las Torres

Cabins Cuernos

Hosteria Pehoe

Hotel Grey

What follows are some pictures and brief descriptions of each place.

Luxury Accommodation

Please note that on this page we are NOT taking about Torres del Paine premium accommodation. This page is ONLY showing you the better, private accommodation for the W Trek Trail and no more. Therefore, should you seek real comfort and luxury level, we can also arrange the W Trek based around this alternative. However, please click through to our Luxury lodges page for information.

Torres del Paine Hotel Las Torres

This hotel is located on private land, which is still a working, Patagonian estancia. The owners have built three accommodation blocks where visitors to Torres del Paine can stay. The hotel has a rustic feel to it and they have tried to make it as “up market” as they can, but it is a mid-level property in our view. Guest rooms are finished to a comfortable level, all with private, en-suite bathrooms with either a view facing the mountain side of the building or what they call the garden side, which is actually towards the Patagonian “country side”.

The hotel offers a restaurant and modest spa facility.

One of the great advantages of Hotel Las Torres is that is is located right beside the trail head that leads up to the Torres base, which is about a 4hr hike up hill.

Torres del Paine Cabins Cuernos

In the middle of the Torres del Paine W Trek is the entrance to the French Valley. Located near to this entrance is Cabins Cuernos (also the site of Refugio Cuernos). The Cabins Cuernos are small, A-framed huts that sleep up to three people in a “cosy” way. Also within the hut is a wood-burning stove and a quaint, small deck area. Therefore, sleeping here, in one of these huts, provides private accommodation for you and your partner, family or close friend.

In addition to the huts there is a communal WC and shower unit as well as an exterior hot tub – which is shared with other guests.

Meals are taken in the almost adjacent Refugio.

Torres del Paine Hosteria Pehoe

The Hosteria Pehoe has the name “hosteria” in its definition, rather than hotel, because it is a simple hotel. Originally built as a fishing lodge, the main building, which has the stupendous, direct view to the Cuernos of Paine, is actually the restaurant. Unfortunately many people are taken in by the picture showing this Hosteria on its own, on a small island, with the enormous “Cuernos” in the background, mistakenly thinking that if they book a room here they will get “that” view.

There are two, superior rooms, that DO have a view to the Cuernos, but the rest do not. The complex offers superior-level rooms and these are decent, with en-suite bathrooms, and then there are also some standard-level rooms. The standard level rooms, on the inside, have been renovated to provide reasonably comfortable accommodation, but they are positioned all facing inward to a grass courtyard area. Therefore, do NOT expect great views from the standard rooms.

What Hosteria Pehoe does offer is, as mentioned, is a superb view from is restaurant, and it is also close to the Pudeto jetty from where the catamaran departs and arrives to and from Paine Grande. Therefore, for the purposes of having a private room whilst hiking the W Trek, Hosteria Pehoe is a good bet.

Torres del Paine Hotel Grey

On the southern shores of Grey Lake is the Hotel Lago Grey. This hotel has been at the location since 1989, but initially it comprised of a few cabins and simple cafeteria. Over time it grew into something larger and more significant, including the construction of a separate block of three floors where the superior rooms are now positioned.

Only the superior rooms have the view to the lake and, on a clear day, to the glacier at the far end, and only the rooms from floor two and up get the view – not those on the ground floor. The standard rooms are spacy, but offer no particular views to speak of.

The Hotel Grey has a large restaurant and nice bar area with a tall, picture window wall on the lake side, through which is a fine view to the lake, icebergs (when they are there), and glacier at the far end. It is also the check-in for the Navigation Grey catamaran boat that takes people to Refugio Grey and Glacier Grey.

For those people hiking the W Trek and using our “Premium W Trek Accommodation” Hotel Grey will be the place to stay at the end or beginning of your trek.
