Torres del Paine Circuit Trek Accommodation

and Serviced Camping Options

The Full Torres del Paine Circuit Trek Trail takes in the back country sector of the Park and then loops around to meet up with Refugio Grey on the western side of the W Trek Trail. Together they form the Full Circuit, also known as the “O” Circuit, because, when looked down upon from above, the path forms a circle (apart from the middle bit on the W trek!)

Along the Circuit Trek trail in Torres del Paine National Park, there are the following accommodation options positioned at intervals along the trail:

Serviced Camping Sites

Refugios

Domos

One Hotel

One Eco Camp

On this page we will talk about the definitions of the accommodation, as well as the different options when trekking the Circuit trail from the Torres del Paine Welcome Centre, in the eastern part of the W Trek, anticlockwise up to Camping Seron.

What is a Refugio and What do They Offer?

Effectively a refugio is basically a hostel. In other words a simple form of accommodation where there are “no frills”. Moreover, rooms are NOT individual, but dormitories with bunk-bed configurations,  whereby other travellers will be sleeping – unless you book an entire dorm for exclusive use. In addition, there are NO en-suite bathrooms, only communal, but segregated shower rooms with WC’s.

What’s more, meals are served in an often “tightly packed”, “canteen style” set up. Another facility is that often there will be a mini market on site to sell snacks, drinks and other traveller-required products.

With this in mind, refugios are not for everyone. Younger, hikers are usually perfectly “at home” with the refugio set up, however, older guests may prefer the comfort of a hotel or even luxury lodge.

What is Serviced Camping and What do They Offer?

Adjacent to all the refugios are serviced camping areas. Typically these comprise of raised platforms, upon which is pitched a good quality tent. Within the tent will be ground matts, sleeping bags as well bag liners.

Trekkers using serviced camping can use the special camping shower and WC facilities as well as take their meals within the refugio canteen.

Hotel Las Torres / Eco Camp

In addition to the refugios Norte and Central, at the eastern end of the Torres del Paine W trek, there is also the Hotel Las Torres and Eco camp. The hotel is as is, that is to say a hotel. Eco Camp is a complex of dome-covered units and a central lounge, dining area. Accommodation here is under our “Luxury Camping” category.

Cabins Cuernos

In the middle of the W Trek there are three person, small, A-framed cabins, with a small deck and these are each private. Guests have access to a communal shower and WC unit too.

Domos Frances

Moreover, further along from Cuernos is the Domos Frances complex. Here, there are dome-structured units offering dorm rooms with bunk beds. However, the bunds are positioned in such a way to provide a degree of semi-privacy from other bunks. At the end of each unit there is also a shower and WC facilities room.

One of the easiest options is to ask us to handle ALL your Circuit Trek, and other Patagonia travel requirements. Please get in touch.
